Our appraisals are prepared according to the ethics and reporting mandated by the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), promulgated by Congress and the Appraisal Foundation.
Our machinery and equipment appraisals are accurate, irrefutable, defensible and descriptive because they must withstand the scrutiny of the IRS, the SBA, courts, government agencies, CPA's, attorneys and lenders. Our assignment of value is based on personal inspection and extensive research from manufacturers, suppliers and other pertinent resources. Our reports include, but are not limited to, market conditions, economic conditions, photographs, make, model and serial numbers, condition of equipment and other descriptive information.
In addition to providing expert, unbiased machinery and equipment appraisals, MidCap Advisors also provide a highly experienced team with the appropriate credentials in the event expert testimony is required.
MidCap's Machinery and Equipment Appraisal practice is led by Jim Ward, MBA. His training, certifications and years of experience as a machinery & equipment appraiser, qualifies him to provide appraisals for the IRS, SBA and other government agencies. Jim is based in Kansas City, Missouri. His team of appraisers is able to perform machinery & equipment appraisals throughout the United States.
Types of Machinery and Equipment Appraisals
• Summary Appraisal - This type of engagement will include an on-site inspection by the appraiser and will typically include photographs, when possible, of the machinery and equipment being valued. The Summary Appraisal report is USPAP compliant and is used by lenders to support loan decisions; CPAs for valuations prepared in accordance with AICPA's Standards of Valuation #1, the Pension Protection Act of 2006 and the Council of Foundations; attorneys for divorce dissolution and litigation to substantiate accurate and realistic values that will withstand court and IRS scrutiny; and business owners for planning, selling, buying, financing, insurance, expansion, partnership dissolution, property taxes, Pension Protection Act of 2006 and converting from a C Corp to an S.
• Desktop Appraisal - This type of engagement will not involve an on-site inspection by the appraiser. Descriptions and photographs of the equipment are provided by the client and relied upon by the appraiser to determine the value of the machinery & equipment.
