Laura WardLaura Maver Ward, Managing Director of MidCap's Kansas City office, was named one of the Kansas City Business Journal's Women Who Mean Business Class of 2011. This program recognizes corporate executives, entrepreneurs and professionals in the Kansas City area who have worked hard in their respective business fields and communities and by doing so have helped improve the business environment for professional women.

This prestigious honor has been part of a program from the Kansas City Business Journal for the past 12 years. According to the Kansas City Business Journal, recipients of this award are chosen for this honor based on the significant contributions they have made to business and industry in the Kansas City area. A panel of prominent business experts and past honorees review the nominees in order to select the Women Who Mean Business.

Laura Maver Ward is an accomplished entrepreneur and businesswoman with 30 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, exit planning, management consulting, project management, executive coaching, business improvement services, business appraisals, and machinery and equipment appraisals. She holds certifications as a Business Intermediary (CBI), Exit Planner (CExP), Business Coach (CBC), Senior Business Analyst (CSBA), Machinery & Equipment Appraiser (CMEA), as well as numerous corporate and individual assessment certifications.

Laura leads the Kansas City team of MidCap Advisors. Her team members include Jim Ward, Managing Director, Jeanie Sell Latz, Managing Director and V. Gayle Hickman, Valuations Director. They provide senior level expertise in mergers and acquisitions, business valuations, machinery and equipment appraisals, exit planning, business improvement services and financial consulting.

For her work with business owners, Laura has earned numerous other awards, including the "Joan Strewler-Carter Women of Influence Award" and the "Kansas City Kansas Chamber's Top Five Small Business Award." She is also a founding member and board member of the Women's Capital Connection, an angel fund dedicated to helping women business owners of start-up companies. Laura is the past President of the Kansas City Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners. She serves on a variety of boards and has supported over 25 non-profits. She is also a national speaker and author.
