Laura Maver Ward is an accomplished entrepreneur and businesswoman with 30 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, management consulting, executive coaching, manufacturing and business services.

During the course of her career, Laura has advised over forty business owners on mergers and acquisitions and financial advisory issues.

As a fourth generation business owner and a seasoned business owner herself, Laura is passionate about helping business owners meet their personal, business and financial goals. In addition, Laura works closely with a select group of private equity investors and entrepreneurs to help them design and implement successful targeted acquisition programs.

Before joining MidCap Advisors, Laura founded Dovetail Business Advisors, a full-service mergers & acquisitions and consulting firm located in Kansas City, Missouri.

Prior to that, Laura was a Managing Director with a national mergers and acquisitions firm that specialized in representing manufacturing, business service and transportation companies.

Laura also spent 16 years at Hallmark Cards, Inc. in the areas of quality control, production management, manufacturing, procurement, and marketing. During her tenure at Hallmark, Laura developed and implemented a key supplier program and implemented a minority and women-owned procurement program. Laura received Hallmark's prestigious Minority Supplier Partnership Award, in recognition of her efforts to develop and grow the Minority Supplier Program.

Laura is a sought after speaker, educator and facilitator and a featured writer for the KC Small Business Magazine. She is a member of the Women's Capital Connection, an angel fund dedicated to providing funding and mentoring to women business owners. Laura is the Immediate Past President of the Kansas City chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners. Because of Laura's efforts to promote women owned businesses Laura was awarded the 2008 Joan Strewler-Carter Women of Influence Award. Laura has also previously been nominated for the prestigious "25 Under 25 Award" and Women Who Mean Business award.

Laura believes in helping others and giving back. She has served as a board member and/or committee member for a number of organizations, including the Truman Medical Center TruFriends, The Women's Foundation of Greater Kansas City, The Central Exchange, Downey Side Adoption Agency, Barstow School and The Pembroke Hill School.

Laura was born and raised in Westchester County, NY and Nantucket Island, MA. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Rochester Institute of Technology, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Laura holds certifications as a Business Intermediary, Exit Planner, Business Coach, Machinery & Equipment Appraiser, Senior Business Analyst, Professional Values and Behavioral Analyst. She is also a Licensed Realtor in Missouri and Kansas.

Laura, her husband and their two children live in the Kansas City metro area. Laura enjoys family time, attending her children's sports and extracurricular activities, traveling, golfing, skiing and reading.
