Jeanie Sell Latz Joins MidCap's Kansas City Office

KANSAS CITY - September 30, 2009 - MidCap Advisors is pleased to announce that Jeanie Sell Latz has joined its Kansas City office as a Managing Director. Jeanie has been a senior executive and corporate attorney for over 25 years in publicly held and private companies. She held the positions of Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer for Kansas City Power & Light Company and Great Plains Energy, and General Counsel for Midwest Research Institute. She has expertise in the issuance of securities, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, corporate governance, board and shareholder relations, organizational development, shared services, as well as all other areas of corporate law. She has extensive experience raising capital with for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.

During her tenure at Kansas City Power & Light, she acted as counsel for the issuance of over $3.5 billion of debt and equity. She oversaw the formation of Great Plains Energy, a Midwest energy holding company, and the acquisitions of Strategic Energy, LLC, and other energy-related subsidiaries. While at Midwest Research, she was counsel for the issuance of tax-exempt bonds for the expansion of research facilities, and led the acquisition of a 50% ownership interest in a Canadian products and services company. She served on the Board of Dycor Technologies Ltd., a privately held company that provides chemical, biological and radiological technologies.

Jeanie has a B.S. degree in Business Administration and a J.D. degree from the University of Missouri. She is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, Kansas City Bar Association, American Society of Governance Professionals, and the National Association of Corporate Directors.
